joa, phone home

My cellphone operator is Chess and I’m connected to the Chess Premium subscription. This allows me to have network coverage in all countries I will travel through except Costa Rica, which I consider to be pretty good! To find a list of the different cellphone network operators that Chess have established agreements with, for each country on my route [...] Read more

Mountain apparel

As my budget is pretty tight right now, and I’m only going to need Gore-Tex or equivalent apparel for the last couple of days of the Kilimanjaro climb, I was reluctant to put too much of my hard earned money into top notch shell apparel. On the other hand, I did not want to be complaining about the equipment I picked out when standing 5000-6000 meters above sea level in the freezing cold, while trying to reach the top. The leatherman

I just dug out my old leatherman from the dusty cellar! This incredible tool in stainless steel might come in handy when venturing through those pesky bushes in the Amazon or trying to repair some of my gear. It’s pretty heavy considering its size, however, after watching MacGyver for ages as a kid I’ve learned that swiss army knives and similar tools can be used in almost any thinkable situation ;)
