Belize – Caye Calker

After arriving Caye Calker, we checked into a little hut at Bella’s hostel – a nice low standard place to sleep, but the common areas literally smelled like shit and the tap water was dirty – no wonder as the backyard was a swamp/junkyard/sewer with crocodiles lurking in the muddy waters! As the last part was unbeknownst to us, we went canoing in the shallow waters in the the back of the island. We had a little swim around the split. The split is the place where the island was divided into two parts during a hurricane back in the day. Belize – San Pedro

It was burning hot and no clouds. We checked into Hostel Thomas. A little gray haired bloke (who lived in the house) gave us a good price for a room for three people with our own bathroom. We then had a great, but rather expensive dinner buffet at Jambels (right next to the beach) with salad, lobster, pork and at least four different chicken dishes – good stuff! [...] Read more
